Looking for some charm in the West Sussex area? You'll want to take a look at Worthing. Lying at the foot of the South Downs, this seaside town is only just over 10 miles west of Brighton. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Worthing became one of Britain's chief market gardening centres and was once home to Oscar Wilde and Harold Pinter, who both lived and worked in the town. Some people even regard Worthing as a better holiday destination than Brighton, as whilst it doesn't have that city feel and is considerably smaller, it's much more intimate, less crowded, and has an equally beautiful seafront.
