This branch of Slug & Lettuce is in Worthing, near Brighton. It’s just a short walk from Worthing Pier, a Grade II listed site that has twice been named Britain’s Pier of the Year.
Food is served from midday to 9pm on weekdays, 10am to 9pm on Saturdays and 11am to 9pm on Sundays. As a result, the menu covers a lot of ground. You can start the day with brunch, where options include everything from a full English to banoffee brioche to Mexican-style eggs.
The picky bits range is ideal for eating while drinking. Three plates are £18 and five are £28. You can choose from the likes of padron peppers, crispy shredded chicken and halloumi fries. There’s also the S&L sharer. This is four small plates (chicken skewers, iberico ham croquettes, padron peppers, halloumi bao buns) served in a half a birdcage. Sandwiches are served until 4pm. You can choose from, among others, a steak sandwich, chicken and bacon sandwich, and a plant power sandwich.
More substantial meals come in the form of burgers and large plates. All burgers are served with skin on fries. Standout options are the mushroom and halloumi and buttermilk chicken. Large plates include steak and fries, fish and chips, teriyaki tofu salad and peri-peri chicken skewers. For dessert, there’s the likes of Little Moons mochi ice cream, Magnum ice cream and mini churros.
The drinks menu is headlined by a 2-for-1 offer on 15 cocktails, featuring mojitos, sangria and Aperol spritz. There’s also a range of shots and bombs, such as baby Guinness, tequila rose and fire bomb. The Slug & Lettuce in Worthing also offers bottomless brunch. This is unlimited picky plates, desserts and your choice of drink for £33.
