Found in the beating heart of southwest London, this sweet little tapas spot on Battersea Square is just a stone’s throw from the park and sits across the water from the well-heeled Chelsea harbour.
The interiors will immediately transport you to sunnier climes, with rustic wooden touches, warm low-hanging lighting and a bar stocked up with jars of delicious bites like olives, pickles and ferments.
Kick off with a glass of something fresh from the well-curated drinks list. The reasonably priced bottles start around the £30 mark, and most are available by the glass too. There’s a particularly good pale rosé from France – the Le Campuget – as well as all kinds of rich reds. If you’re not a fan of wine there’s also a decent cocktail list that spans all the classics, including jugs of sangria made with wine, rum, triple sec, orange juice and lemonade.
Accompanying the drinks offering is a short but well-formed menu of snacks and sharing plates. For something light you might like to start with popcorn, chunky potato crisps or a selection of empanadas. These include fillings that range from spiced chicken through to ham and cheese. For something slightly more substantial there are meet and cheese boards, sharing plates of nachos and quesadillas. The latter are filled with melted mozzarella cheese and either chorizo, spicy chipotle chicken or piquillo peppers
While reservations guarantee you a spot, walks ins are welcomed, with some tables held each night for spontaneous diners. If, however, your party size is larger than six guests, we’d suggest booking ahead to secure your spot.
Thanks to its cosy ambiance and friendly service, this spot is as ideally suited to date nights as it is larger gatherings of friends. Plus, if you do decide to bring your mates you can try more of the menu, which is never a bad thing in our book.
