The Vine Restaurant closed permanently in early 2019
Located in an elegant conservation area in the heart of Sevenoaks, directly opposite one of the oldest cricket grounds in England, this smart neighbourhood restaurant occupies what was the town’s old Vine Tavern. Thoughtfully restored by owners Bernt and Kathleen Bouverie in 2006, it’s now a diamond venue for “lovely high-end dining” with a seasonal accent. Kent’s growers and producers make a big contribution to the menus, which might run from starters such as pan-fried scallops with celeriac and hazelnuts or ham hock terrine with grape chutney and mustard cress to mains of Knole Park venison with pomme Anna, heritage carrots and pomegranate or pan-fried hake with ‘nduja and pancetta cassoulet. To conclude, pick something simple such as treacle tart or crème brûlée. We’ve also heard talk of “wonderful breakfasts” and Sunday lunches, while one fan cites The Vine as a “classy venue for a special occasion”.
