SquareMeal Review of Hattusa
Bronze Award
Named after the ancient Hittite capital of Anatolia (one of the oldest cities on earth), Hattusa offers “delicious” Turkish regional fare in a stylish setting – note the elaborately carved screens, the hieroglyphics on the walls and the samples of traditional pottery. The long menu kicks off with an assortment of cold and hot mezze including all the usual suspects (tamara, stuffed vine leaves, cacik dip, crispy calamari, chunks of sucuk sausage etc), ahead of slow-cooked ‘oven’ dishes such as lamb kleftiko and chicken sultan (with white wine, garlic, mushrooms and cream) and assorted grills – from meaty kebabs and kofte to whole sea bass, tuna and garlicky king prawns with chilli. Veggies are well served, and those with a sweet tooth can find solace in plates of sticky baklava. Occasional live music gets the party swinging, and there’s a “fantastic” kids’ menu too.
