The Drapers Arms is in the middle of Stevenage High Street. It offers an extensive food centred on pub classics. There’s also a large beer garden. As well as tables and chairs, this features several cabanas, perfect for all seasons.
Starters are a range of small plates. Options include hunter’s chips, southern fried chicken goujons and cheesy mac bites. The two sharing starters are footlong nachos and cheesy mac and bacon loaded chips. There’s also both cauliflower and chicken wings. These come in either portions of ten or a bucket and with your choice of sauce. Mains include lasagne, steak and ale pie and chicken tikka masala.
The burger and a drink deal lets you choose from any burger and a soft or alcoholic drink from as little £9.29. ‘Chicken your way’ is your choice of chicken (grilled breast, breaded escalope or Quorn buttermilk style fillet), cheese (mozzarella or Mexican hot), and topping (twisted bacon or cluckin’ hot), served with tomato, chips and peas. From the grill there’s a 10oz gammon steak or 10oz rump steak.
The Drapers Arms also offers bottomless brunch every Saturday and Sunday. This starts at £25 per person. For that, you get a main (full English or veggie full English) and 90 minutes of unlimited drinks, which range from Carling to Prosecco. Brunch must be booked 48 hours in advance and requires a non-refundable deposit per person. Every Friday and Saturday until late are Glow Crazy nights. Here guests are invited to embrace all things neon while enjoying offers on pitchers of cocktails. Live sport is also a key part of The Drapers Arms’ offering and there’s a smartphone quiz every Sunday.
