Located in a historic building in the iconic Victoria Quarter, The Cut and Craft are bringing a casual yet luxurious dining experience to Leeds’ food scene. Since its opening in 2022, the restaurant has been celebrated for its high quality food and stunning interiors. The venue sports a rich and storied history, with links to the Titanic. The location formerly served as the famed Collinson's Cafe and was home to a string quartet led by Wallace Hartley, who later left to board the Titanic as bandmaster. One of the few items discovered of Hartley’s from the Titanic was a silver matchbox engraved with ‘from Collinson’s staff Leeds’, cementing their connection to one of the most notorious events of the 20th century.
Born out of a desire to bring the great steaks they had encountered abroad to their hometown of Leeds, owners Oscar Akgul and Osman Doganozu began their mission by finding the best local butcher to work alongside them. From there they have developed a selection of 60-day-aged Aberdeen Angus steaks, with seven cuts to choose from. Their signature steak is the ten oz flat iron steak, a dish they have spent years perfecting.
The menu celebrates the best of the local produce, serving up various Yorkshire-grown goods. Fruit and vegetables are selected to reflect the highlights of the season, seafood is sourced from the British coast and the meat is all exclusively sourced for The Cut and Craft.
The menu is rich with decadent delights, from their fresh oysters to the truffle potato croquettes, each bite is deeply luxurious. For mains, the steaks are undeniably the stars of the show, though vegetarians will be pleased to see the truffle aubergine lasagna among the main dishes.
The surroundings are equally as luxurious, with high ceilings and an eye-catching bar. The venue is perfect for special occasions, and if you’re wanting to celebrate in style, The Cut and Craft have private dining spaces available to rent.
