Nestled in the heart of Meppershall, Sugar Loaf stands as a distinguished local gastro pub with a rich history dating back to 1871 when it was first granted its alcohol licence. In recent months, the restaurant’s mission has been unwavering - to provide an exceptional culinary experience for their valued patrons seeking a harmonious blend of vibrant ambiance, delectable food, and a splendid selection of cask ales, gins, and cocktails.
Sugar Loaf has become the go-to gastro pub for those who appreciate dining, socialising, and indulging in delightful beverages in the area. The menu is available all day until 9pm on weekdays and 6pm on Sundays. It's where the community gathers for an unforgettable few hours out.
The menu kicks off with a house special cheese burger served in a brioche bun with salad and homemade fries, and burger of Portobello mushroom and halloumi, followed by classics like roasted chicken with new potatoes, roasted carrots and a white wine cream sauce, pork sausages with creamy mash and red wine sauce, and beer battered Fish home made chips served with mushy peas and tartar sauce. Desserts include the forever favourites of a chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate cake.
Sunday lunch is served between 12 and 6pm, and begins with starters of calamari and chilli jam, southern fried halloumi and sourdough bruschetta. Then, choose your roast from a daily cut of beef, leg of lamb, lemon and herb roasted chicken or Mediterranean vegetarian tart. Each roast is served with seasonal veggies, roasties, gravy and a homemade Yorkshire pudding.
The cocktail list includes all the classic favourites, from the Aperol Spritz and Mojito, to Whiskey Sour and Pimms Cup.
