Slough is ideally located on the cusp of London, allowing easy access to the cornucopia of high-quality restaurants that the capital has to offer, but also with a westward eye on the strong options in East Berkshire (and even South Buckinghamshire). The options to be found in the town centre are not to be slept on, with a growing quality of options that would make Betjeman apologise for that poem.
The first thing to be said is that Slough is only a short drive from Bray, a little village that is absolutely filled to bursting with Michelin starred restaurants, restaurants with aspirations for the same award, and top-quality ingredients being trucked in every day. The village is a haven for those who adore their food and is not to be missed out on for a celebration. With this on your doorstep, you’d be advised to at least consider going once in your lifetime.
Maidenhead itself also has plenty on offer, with a large variety of cuisines to satisfy many needs. Also, containing a ‘spill over’ of quality restaurateurs from the Bray scene, some restaurants of excellent quality are to be found. In this direction, you could continue on to Marlow to find a similar scene with similar qualities, if you’re looking for a change in scenery.
