Located in the Royal Berkshire hotel, Fork is a beautiful and vibrant restaurant that focuses on placing local ingredients at the centre. The staff are as knowledgeable as they are friendly, and proud to provide you with sumptuous delights. Decorated to be classic in fashion with splashes of colour and warm lighting, Fork nods to the Royal Berkshire's rich history with Georgian windows and quaint touches.
If you're swinging by for lunch and don't fancy a large meal, choose something from the light lunch menu, served with a dressed salad and chips. We'd opt for the lemon breaded market fish sandwiches on baked ciabatta with homemade tartare, rocket and dill salad. If you are going in for the full experience, get your taste buds going with sweet pea and watercress arancini, sticky pork belly bites with sesame and chilli, or the smoked aubergine hummus on chargrilled flatbread. Starters include salmon gravlax with bagel crisp, capers, dill and creme fraiche, and sesame shredded duck with teriyaki and pink ginger spiced salad. Big plates include the bavette steak with triple cooked chips and vine tomatoes, grilled chicken with a glazed fondant potato, mint pea puree and poached spring onion jus, along with royal bream with a warm quinoa salad and roquito peppers.
We wouldn't be able to turn down dessert, not with dishes like this on the menu! There's a baked cheesecake with fresh mixed berry and brandy snaps, chocolate mousse with dark chocolate bavarois and chocolate ganache, and banana creme brulee with banana jam and a vanilla creme brulee mix. Lunch is a little lighter, with small plates of black pudding and apple scotch eggs with brown sauce, and Severn and Wye smoked salmon with dill and caper crostinis, fresh fennel and kohlrabi salad.
