In 2011, the Shampan chain embarked on its most ambitious culinary venture yet — the opening of Shampan at the Spinning Wheel, a 300-seat restaurant in Westerham, which has since become the flagship of the Shampan brand. Here, you can expect to find a restaurant of comfort, some delicious cuisine, incredible cocktails and fine wines. Sitting proudly in the county of the Garden of England, Shampan holds numerous awards and is a wonderful place to enjoy some intimate and authentic Indian cuisine.
The primary dining areas at Shampan are the Caraway Room and Tamarind Room, and you'll discover a delightful haven to enjoy your Indian food. These spaces are packed with a vibrant and lively ambiance, complemented by stunning Italian furniture and tasteful decor. Intricate lattice screens provide a touch of seclusion, enhancing the overall dining experience. The Tamarind Room is the perfect setting for creating memorable moments with friends and loved ones.
The main menu kicks off with some delicious appetisers. Choose from batter fried cauliflower and broccoli coated in gram flour and spices, classic papadums and chutneys, onion bhajis and king scallops dusted with garlic and crushed spices. For your main meal, you don't have to enjoy the classic curry. Why not enjoy the grills and kebabs section and try the pickled paneer and pepper medley with tomato coulis, some freshwater king prawns with garlic and dill leaves, or a masala lamb seekh kebab gilafi.
Main courses include marinated baby aubergines stir-fried with slow cooked onions and tomatoes, a seared sea bass with Bengali do piyaza sauce, and a delicious lamb leg baked in its juices, served with fried onion, lamb mince and a spiced sauce. Each of the curries are available in vegetable, chicken, tiger prawns and Kentish lamb options, and include all the classics, such as a korma, madras, masala, bhunna, and dhansak.
