Located in Wiltshire less than ten miles south of the iconic prehistoric stone circle at Stonehenge, Salisbury is a city steeped in a long and fascinating history. Without a doubt the most famous symbol of Salisbury is the cathedral. Built in the 1200s from 70,000 tonnes of stone, it has been drawing visitors ever since. As it was built over a period of less than 40 years, which is unusual for a building of its size, it boasts one single style and has since become one of the best examples in the country of Gothic architecture. Adjacent, in the Cathedral Close, sits other historical attractions like the Salisbury Museum, the Rifles Military Museum and Mompesson House, which was one of the filming locations used in Sense and Sensibility.

Salisbury is also lies witin easy access to the surrounding countryside, with its endless Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, National Parks and World Heritage Sites. Pack a picnic and head out on a hike for the day, hire a bike and explore the rolling hills or just stroll to the nearest pub and settle in for a quintessentially British meal complete with outstanding country views.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the events taking place throughout the year such as the regular Charter Market showcasing the best of local produce, and Taste Salisbury, a premier food and drink festival that takes place over several days in the town centre and provides attendees with everything from rustic street food trucks to elegant fine dining.
