The London Essence Company has welcomed a new Original Indian Tonic Water to its collection of exquisite drinks crafted from the finest distilled botanicals to deliver the purest flavours.
The tonic, like the rest of the London Essence collection of tonics, gingers and sodas, is light and low in calories, at under 20kcals per 100ml, with naturally sourced sweetness and no artificial ingredients.
The tonic boasts an aromatic, citrus-forward profile and crisp, refreshing finish. It features a precise balance of lemon and lime, combined with aromatic calamansi extracts, to deliver a unique tropical note, layered with a hint of chinotto and juniper for a bitter tonic finish.
The Original Indian Tonic Water has been created following the success of The London Essence Company’s signature Classic Tonic, which delivers a contemporary twist on the more traditional flavour profile of tonic water, with a dry and bitter forward profile.
Ounal Bailey, co-founder of The London Essence Company, says: “At The London Essence Company, we have always set out to skilfully blend the past with the needs of today, and continually review the breadth of our range to meet consumer demand. Our Original Indian Tonic perfectly captures the essence of the diverse melting pot of London – elegant, refreshing and easily accommodating for drinkers.”
Andrea Brulatti, UK Brand Ambassador, added: “London Essence’s drinks are a bartender’s dream – aromatic yet elegant in flavour, enhancing a spirit’s profile rather than masking it. The Indian Tonic Water perfectly meets drinkers’ demand for a more approachable tonic, that will offer endless possibilities in creating deliciously light drinks – with or without alcohol.”
The London Essence range of tonics, sodas and gingers
Founded in 1896 on the banks of the Thames, The London Essence Company developed an unrivalled knowledge and expertise creating exquisite essences for the perfume houses of Victorian London, who stipulated only the finest ingredients for their creations.
Taking these techniques and applying them to the world of food and drink, the company combined the science of distillation with the art of layering flavours to create a range of natural essences with an unmatched depth of flavour and complexity.
The heritage of these Victorian pioneers is the inspiration behind The London Essence Company of today, which pays tribute to the history of its name by crafting luxurious drinks from the purest flavours, selecting only the finest botanical ingredients and gently distilling them to capture their essence.
The use of traditional techniques fuels the creation of light and elegant drinks for the 21st century, thanks to a winning combination of distilled essences and a little imagination, along with some expert input from a number of leading bartenders. The result is a range of carefully calibrated mixers with a contemporary edge – tonics, gingers and sodas that are naturally low in calories, containing no artificial sweeteners, and perfectly pitched to work alongside a wide range of premium spirits, or to create an exquisite drinking experience on their own.
Light, subtle and versatile, the London Essence’s sodas, tonics and gingers are built by design to accentuate the flavours of the world’s finest spirits, bringing out the best in leading gins, vodkas, rums and whiskies – and, thanks to their great heritage and expert production processes, matching them in terms of authenticity and provenance.
The London Essence Company collection includes: Original Indian Tonic; Classic London Tonic; Grapefruit & Rosemary Tonic; Bitter Orange & Elderflower Tonic; Pomelo & Pink Pepper Tonic; Delicate Ginger Ale; Perfectly Spiced Ginger Beer; Soda Water; Rhubarb & Cardamom Crafted Soda and White Peach & Jasmine Crafted Soda.
Original Indian
Their Original Indian Tonic Water presents a precise balance of refreshing citrus notes, bitter quinine and distilled juniper essence. Notes of lemon peel extract, aromatic calamansi, cold pressed lime oil and a subtle hint of chinotto add further complexity. The most versatile of tonics, it pairs nicely with a diverse portfolio of gins, but for a more contemporary aperitif, try mixing with a dark rum.
Blood Orange & Elderflower
Fresh and zesty, with a delicious hint of sweetness for contrast, this tonic is a perfect partner for high-end gins. With its delicate but distinctive, honeyed taste, it will seamlessly accentuate a floral or citrus-focused gin. Alternatively, partner with a dark spirit – such as an reposado tequila – for a modern take on this oaky flavour.
Pomelo & Pink Pepper
This precise balance of sweet, sharp pomelo fruit and an undertone of warming pink peppercorn is fresh, zingy and deliciously fragrant, making it an idea partner for a juniper-heavy or a citrus-lead gin. Alternatively, serve over ice with grapefruit zest or a pinch of pink peppercorns for a spectacular standalone soft drink.
Grapefruit & Rosemary
This precise balance of crisp, cold pressed grapefruit oils and distilled rosemary essence gives an invigorating, aromatic drink that perfectly blends herbal and citrus notes around a core of bitter quinine. Partner with premium, citrus-led gins and a sprig of rosemary. Beautiful, too, when consumed alone.
