Get ready for BBQ season

Spring may be teasing us at this time of the year, but outdoor cooking is certainly on its way. And it’s the Kamado Joe range that is catching our eye. When it comes to grilling and bbq-ing, this Atlanta-based brand keeps pushing the envelop with exciting, innovative add-ons. In a nut-shell, its charcoal cooking at its elegant and super simple best!

In a world where time always seems to be short, the convenience and ease of operating this grill are certainly not to be sniffed at. For a start, the automatic fire starter ignition lights the charcoal with the push of a button, so your grill is ready to use in under 15 minutes. And while you’re prepping the food, you probably only need the the coals to be gently simmering – afterall you don’t want the charcoal burning out too quickly – and when you’re ready you can rev up the temperature to 370°C in a matter of minutes. This means you’ll have more time to socialise with your friends, who’ll no doubt be impressed by your multi-tasking insouciance, and you’ll get brownie points from your other half!

And with the connected digital gadgetry, maintaining the right temperature is a piece of cake too. Equally you can take back control at the touch of a button when you’re ready to sear your veggies. And if you’re called into the kitchen, fret not! You can conveniently adjust your grill temperature, monitor meat probes, and manage cook times directly from the new Kamado Joe app on your phone.

And who does the less glamorous clean-up in your household? Well these days, you can put your hand up for this job, too. Simply burn off the excess food from the stainless steel grill, wipe it down with a soapy cloth and allow the Konnected Joe to collect the ash in a slide-out ash drawer.

Other appealing advances include the air-lift hinge for easy lifting and gentle closing of the dome, a 2-tier grill divide for cooking flexibility, and a pizza oven accessory.  And if you’re not quite ready to take the plunge on a big expenditure, then there’s always the option of the Joe Junior that now comes with a stand and is sub £500.
