Be one of the first people in the country to try Louis Roederer’s new Champagnes

There is an exciting new Champagne in town – and you could be among the first to taste it. The new vintage release of the uber-stylish Louis Roederer and Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2012 is joined by not only a new cuvée for the house, but the first Champagne of its kind to be commercially available in the UK: Louis Roederer Brut Nature Rosé 2012.

This stunning pair of champagnes are exclusively available to drink by the glass at one of London’s most stylish bars, The Beaufort Bar at The Savoy, until 11 November, giving you the opportunity to be among the first people in the country to try these wines before they are on general release in mid-November. This is a rare opportunity to get a sneak preview of one of the most exciting Champagne releases of the year.

These Champagnes were created as a collaboration between two friends – Frédéric Rouzaud, the 7th-generation owner of the famed Champagne house and Philippe Starck, the world-renowned designer.

Louis Roederer Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2012

Starck described his ideal Champagne in design terms – ‘modern, honest, minimal’ – and to the team at Roederer, this was describing only one style of Champagne: zero dosage, otherwise known as brut nature. This is a style of Champagne with no added sugar, making it incredibly vibrant, pure and mouth-wateringly fresh. It was, however, a style that had never been made in Louis Roederer’s 240-year history.

Undaunted by the challenge, Roederer took years refining its skill with this style of Champagne until it released its inaugural vintage, the 2006. This was followed by 2009, and now the 2012. The year already has a reputation among wine professionals as a stellar-quality vintage. The grapes are all grown in Roederer’s own biodynamic vineyards, an environmentally friendly and sustainable method of farming that eschews all chemicals.

These beautiful Champagnes are made in very small quantities and are a reflection of Roederer’s dedication to crafting delicious, elegant and pure Champagnes.

Bright, light and crystalline, the Champagne shows vibrant citrus underpinned by subtle baked apple, white almond and hazelnut, with a moreish saline finish. The Champagne leaves an ethereal sense of precision and purity in the palate. Excellent with clean, Asian-style dishes.

A clean nose of early-morning roses and pure red fruit – raspberries and cherries – is picked up by a lively palate, which displays both drinkable softness and a refreshing, chalky backbone. The Champagne makes an excellent aperitif but would also be a good match for beef carpaccio or smoked salmon.

Louis Roederer Brut Nature 2012 and Louis Roederer Brut Nature Rosé 2012 are available to try exclusively at The Beaufort Bar at The Savoy until 11 November.
