This American-inspired restaurant and bar, found at the Hyatt Regency London Albert Embankment hotel, takes its name from the popular acronym used to describe the sitting US President. If you’re really looking to pledge your allegiance, you could always pop in to the neighbouring US Embassy on your way to dinner.
POTUS features a striking bar at the centre of the room, which serves up wines, spirits and beers alongside cocktails inspired by past and present Presidents favourite sips. Elsewhere, the dining room is a grown-up, sophisticated space featuring a muted brown, grey and dark purple colour scheme, cosy furnishings and staff smartly dressed in shirts and waistcoats. On the walls, you can spy a line-up of historical black and white portraits, detailing the life and times of former US presidents and political figures.
The kitchen at POTUS turns out US favourites with contemporary twists, but the American theming is not as heavy handed as you might expect - you won’t find hot dogs and deep-dish pizza here. Instead, guests can begin their meal with sophisticated starters such as pan-seared scallops with a cauliflower puree or the soup of the day served with croutons. For main courses, diners can choose between the likes of honey-balsamic glazed salmon fillet on a bed of vegetables or battered fish and chips. Those looking to show some love to the US can instead opt for creamy mac ‘n’ cheese or San Francisco seafood risotto, while vegan guests can try a grilled cauliflower steak. Carnivores are taken care of too, thanks to a selection of grills (teriyaki pork ribs, ribeye steak) which are served with watercress and your choice of one side and one sauce.
To finish, take your pick from POTUS’s daily-changing pudding trolley full of fresh sweet treats - think the likes of peanut butter chocolate fudge or tropical fruit salad with sorbet.
