If you're looking for an authentic Indian restaurant with stylish interiors and a unique view in Barnes, you're in luck, because Postbox is about to become your new favourite haunt. Postbox is a small, informal restaurant with a neighbourhood feel and a killer spot right on the edge of the Thames.
Inside, we love the look of vintage, wooden tables and a soft colour palette, complemented by colourful murals painted across the walls and touches of rustic, exposed brick. This gives the space some character, making it a great choice for a casual catch up with friends, business dinner or even a date.
The restaurant gets its name from the idea of communication; sending messages through the written word to convey learnings about culture and cuisine, which is what the team hope to do with their food. Speaking of which, on the menu you'll find a selection of small plates to share with the table including crispy okra and pickled radish, alongside goan beef croquettes and pickled cucumber, as well as rechado prawns with butter garlic aioli.
For main dishes, there's some tasty-sounding options from the grill including tandoori cauliflower with pistacchio and almond korma sauce, as well as kasturi chicken malai kebab and reshmi lamb seekh. As for the selection of curries and biryani, we can help but drool over the sound of old Delhi butter chicken, as well as baby aubergine masala and pork cheek kofta vindaloo.
If you fancy some sides with that, try out the wild garlic naan, lasooni baby spinach and whole wheat malabar paratha-truffle oil. While, Maria's banana and bread pudding sounds like a no-brainer for dessert. The team have curated a hand-picked wine selection to go alongside your meal, with sparkling wines for those celebrating, as well as white, red and rose, plus dessert wine to top things off.
