Polurrian on the Lizard is a unique space on the south Cornish coast, where you can enjoy the stunning scenery, breathe in the fresh sea air and soak in the beauty of the little things. Here, there are bedrooms for guests, villas for larger parties, and a space where you can enjoy exceptional dining with true Cornish quality in mind.
Starters in the restaurant include the soup of the day with toasted focaccia, along with sesame pork bites tossed with fennel puree and Asian slaw, and pea and mint arancini with feta, lemon aioli and dressed pea shoots. Other starters include Cornish specials of pan seared scallops with curried cauliflower, chorizo and courgette bhajis, along with grilled mackerel fillets with a potato salad and apple puree, and mussels of the day. For your main, enjoy confit duck leg with pak choi, sweet potato fondants and star anise jus, the gurnard with saag aloo, cavolo nero, curried seaweed butter and crispy leeks, or the classic that never fails to please – battered cod and chips with crushed peas, tartar sauce, curry sauce and lemon. On the side, enjoy onion rings, garlicky new potatoes, and a rocket, truffle and parmesan salad.
The desserts are just as special, beginning with the orange and thyme panna cotta served with a chocolate tuile and shortbread, the dark chocolate tart with raspberry and clotted cream, or passionfruit cheesecake with coconut crumb and mango sorbet. If you prefer something savoury to end your meal, enjoy the Cornish cheese board with crackers, quince jelly, grapes and chutney, and then for a lighter option, there's a selection of Roskilly's ice cream and sorbets with shortbread, coulis and berries.
