Notting Hill may be a far cry from Naples, but this family-run ‘fish boutique’ has been transported lock, stock & (blue plastic) barrels from southern Italy to west London, & it’s delighting locals with the freshness of its produce – supplies of red tuna, prawns, swordfish, cod & more besides are flown in daily from ports in the Med, arriving within 12 hours of being landed. Customers can pop in to buy wet fish from the glass display counters or linger over sashimi-style snacks with a glass of chilled white. Come nightfall, the counters double as high tables with diners perched on stools fashioned from the aforementioned barrels. There’s no messing around here – everything is simply served ‘crudo’ (raw with olive oil, salt & lemon), grilled or lightly steamed. Nothing more.
