About
New York, Miami, Ibiza… and now Notting Hill. This first London branch of Piccola Cucina aims to bring its successful brand of Sicilian and Italian cookery to the capital, presented in a casual setting featuring handmade tiles and country-style dressers. Restaurateur Andrea Reitano – who also opened Assunta Madre, an Italian fish restaurant, in Mayfair this year – helps to ensure that fresh ingredients from Italy are delivered daily to the restaurant: from olive oil to coffee. The menu sings with southern European flavours, with fish to the fore. So expect the likes of tuna tartare with avocado, grilled involtino of Sicilian swordfish, and vermicelli with Mediterranean lobster. Vegetarians also get their place in the sun, with pasta a la Norma (featuring aubergine and tomatoes), and there’s a selection of grilled meats too. The regional Italian wine list starts at £25.
