In the midst of Kew Gardens you'll find a Peyton and Byrne offering, and in good weather, it’s a joy to sit on the terraces here. There’s always a salad bar stocked with interesting salads as well as some excellent cakes and a variety of hot dishes, all freshly prepared. But the real speciality of the house is the sweet, mild chilli sauce they make from the crop of chillies grown in the Waterlilly house on site, and the best way to sample it is on the barbecue. Try their herb fed chicken which is soaked in herb brine and then brushed with the sauce before serving, for the full experience, or if that doesn’t appeal, Cornish salmon fillet with chilli, ginger and kaffir lime, baked in banana leaves.
