SquareMeal Review of Mazar

Bowls of vibrant tabouleh & moutabal help attract a fair number of Battersea Square’s young mothers into Mazar. The freshly made Lebanese mezze – which also include the likes of ful medames & falafel – entice local office workers in for lunch too, helping to give quite a buzz to proceedings. Those with plenty of time on their hands might continue a meal with main courses of classic kebabs & grills, plus a few sticky sweet baklavas to finish the experience. After dinner on a summer’s evening, it’s very pleasant lingering over a mint tea or a glass of wine with a shisha pipe on the private smoking terrace. Mazar also has a thriving trade in takeaways, for customers who prefer to take their supper home with them.

Great Eve Great Food Great Service! :))
We were a table of four. We think the owner served us all, Mark. Tall dark and Hansome so polite (As a Chelsea Woman I can honestly say he is not in any way a creep to Women far from, but very respectful to all and makes you feel very at ease and relaxed!!) and knows exactly how to treat everyone. He was speaking 5 langauges that night to so many foreign people - WoW!!! we are certain he is secretly a spy ;) as he phoenaomally well travelled and has lived all over the world and even knew people we know in almost 8 different countires, Go Figure that!?! The food was excellent the evening was brilliant. Never spent so much time in one restaurant as the service was brilliant even though the battersea square was packed with hundreds of people, it was a very hot evening. He was a very funny guy and defo made our eve. My husband and I and our guests have since been back but it is not the same when he is not there, is he on secret mission?? Hurry back PLEEEEEASSSSeeee. Please make our evening our again. Look forward to the amazing service delicous food and Vino (Hick) and especially the very hot host, Mark thank you for making our evening. I am sure you made almost 100 tables very happy that night :))

Mazar is the place to sit on a sunny day in Battersea Square. It might be a Lebanese restaurant in name but it also serves up a very decent English breakfast at the weekend and does a good line in sandwiches, all at extremely reasonable prices, to everyone from the dancers from nearby RAD (who probably don't stuff quite as much down their gullets as I do), to yummy mummies waiting for the darlings to come out of the little school and to passing locals like me. It is indeed buzzing around their tables on the roadside piazza so whilst they are fairly good at spotting you and taking orders it can be quicker to pay the bill inside at the counter. Today we had a BLT and a croque monsieur (each accompanied by a large side salad and pile of chips) and a couple of coffees for £17. It might not be gourmet la-di-dah but you can't say fairer than that for a cheery Sunday lunch. P.S. if it's raining, duck into Melanzana instead.
