As if low prices, decent bistro food and an interior conducive to cooing couples weren’t enough, Croydon’s Little Bay (there’s another branch in <a "="" target="_blank">Kilburn) complete with ruched red curtains, displays of masks, and first-floor theatre boxes. Food is served from noon until late and ranges from brunch dishes such as eggs Benedict or American pancakes, to a bargain set meal where shredded duck parcel could precede crab-stuffed fillet of plaice and then vanilla cheesecake, as well as à la carte dishes of roast rump of lamb, or lemon and herb-crusted salmon with angel-hair pasta. There are cocktails too, including the likes of French Duke, a Calvados-based Negroni. Have a snifter before the arias commence; opera singers perform from Wednesday to Friday nights, with country music taking over on Saturdays.
