Bordelaise is part of the wave of great foodie destinations that have made Tooting's Broadway Market a real destination for food and drink. The same team behind Bordelaise are those from the award-winning Little Bar and Little Taperia, and in their Tooting Broadway location have made quite the name for themselves with their steak frites.
In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, Bordelaise has a rustic sharing concept which is strongly influenced from the south west of France. Beginning the communal dining experience are the bar snacks, which include chicken liver parfait and buratta and anchovies on toast. You'll find chalkboard specials, snails, gratinated onion soup, grilled salmon Nicoise salad and plenty of other French favourites on the Bordelaise menu, along with the great deal on steak frites with beef dripping gravy, to transport you to a bistro table on the pavement of a quaint French street. Every Tuesday is steak night, where diners can score a buy one get one free deal on each steak, which is pretty rare for a traditional French steak in London. Wednesdays are great for seafood lovers, with a kilo of mussels for just £15. On Fridays and Saturdays you can score a lunch steak deal with your steak, beef dripping fries and a bordelaise just for just £15. Last but not least, Sunday roasts are bottomless with all the trimmings for £35.
Most of the drinks are also French, from Ricard and Calvados to reds from the Rhône and Bordeaux, to pair up well with the dishes on offer. Those not looking to dine but savour a taste of France can enjoy a glass of wine or bubbles at the bar, and perhaps indulge in apple tarte Tatin or a chocolate moelleux.
