Leila Lily’s is a bar and restaurant in Newcastle’s bustling city centre, part of the Grey Street Hotel. The venue is known for its beautiful aesthetic which boasts carefully placed flowers and garlands of green foliage, covering walls, ceilings and entrances, alongside vast chandeliers. Elegant and sophisticated, it’s an Instagrammable haven.
It's not just style over substance at Leila Lily’s, though. The menu at the restaurant is inspired by international cuisine with a playful twist and offers lots of variety, with a lunch, a la carte and Sunday menu, as well as afternoon tea offering which is perfect for special occasions. For a quick bite, there's also bar snacks and for private events, check out the buffet and canapes offerings.
You can check out all of the menus online but for an idea of what to expect, think Leila's onion soup to start with three types of onion, croutons and a mix of Emmental and Cheddar cheese, or perhaps mushroom arancini with pickled shimeji. For the 'main event' as the team call it, we love the sound of the brown ale battered haddock fillet with triple-cooked chips and minted peas, as well as the juicy chicken gyros, smothered with fresh tzatziki, served with lemon couscous and pomegranate salsa. There's also a whole grill option, so you can get stuck into spatchcock chicken, pork t-bone or a range of steaks if that's more your thing.
If you have an event coming up and are looking for a private dining option, you can chat to Leila's about taking over an exclusive-hire space, too. There are various spaces on offer, including a private bar, which can hold up to 25 guests, and the Eva Rose Garden space, which can hold up to 50. When it comes to dining at Leila Lily’s, booking in advance is recommended, but walk-ins will be accepted if there is sufficient space.
