Housed in what was South Croydon’s Swan Electric Cinema, Fushia must rank as one of the most grandiose and lavishly appointed Indian restaurants in the area. The cavernous interior is awash with exotic rugs, intricately decorated screens, dramatic peacock motifs, lanterns and swathes of black leather, while the comprehensive menu offers an exhaustive tour of the subcontinent before heading off to Sri Lanka, Malaysia and beyond. So, if you’re not taken by the prospect of tandoori lamb chops, chicken jalfrezi, karahi lamb or Goan fish curry, make a beeline for devilled mutton kothu roti, seafood laksa or mee goreng noodles. Fushia is also noted for its 200-seater banqueting hall – a vast, gold-tinted ballroom (complete with its own bar, sound system and performance stage) that is regularly booked up for wedding parties and other celebratory bashes.
