Fort William is a charming town in the western Scottish Highlands, and lies on the shores of Loch Linnhe. Many people base themselves here as a gateway to Ben Nevis, which is the UK's highest peak and so, it has become a very popular choice with tourists. Famed for its beautiful mountains, Fort William is definitely a bucket list moment for anyone travelling around the UK. It's even considered by many to be the outdoors capital of the country because of its wild and mountainous landscape. The original Fort William was built in 1654m and then rebuilt in 1690. By the 1860s, a railway station was built on the fort, which is the Jacobite Steam Train that still passes through today. You may recognise this train as the Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter films.
