Cocktail consultants Manhattans Project, who recently made a splash in Dalston with their residency at POND, have taken the plunge, opening their own Hackney bar. Head honcho Felix is all for “strong drinks, low lights and good times” at his unfussy, sweet little pineapple-themed joint. Every Cloud’s silver lining is a list of off-the-wall innovations from £8, such as a ‘Champagne Daiquiri’ that contains no Champagne (substituting a lab-created acid-based flavour equivalent). Try too the bar’s twist on a Negroni, Call Me Mauby (gin, strawberry aperitif and Bahamian bitter bark digestif), described as ‘somewhere between vanilla Coke and cough syrup’; and Poitín potion, Blue Bán Group, which purports to be the liquid equivalent of Violet Beauregarde, the brat in Willie Wonka & The Chocolate Factory who morphs into a giant blueberry. Wusses may wish to stick with Aperol Spritz, Tempranillo (£15) or Five Points pale ale. No food.
