Chips N Dat began back in 2018, with humble beginnings in a North Woolwich tower block. Originally, the brand was purely a collection and delivery service with big dreams. Now, the restaurant has catered for high profile events for brands such as Superdrug, along with at Notting Hill Carnival and plenty of private events. Vibrant Hackney is the home of this permanent site on the Kingsland Road in Dalston, although you'll sometimes find the team at pop ups and festivals.
The menu begins with a selection of small plates. Choose from a sweet and savoury starter made with green plantain, maple syrup, cinnamon and vanilla, or vegan calamari made with japanese style breaded oyster mushroom. vegan honey sriracha, spring onion and sesame seeds. The Japanese style breaded shrimp comes in plenty of options, from the honey sriracha and garlic parmesan, to the truffle honey mustard and lagos hot sauce. Loaded fries are next up, with the enticing option of smoked brisket, cheese sauce, truffle honey mustard, BBQ sauce and spring onions loaded onto fries. Fried buttermilk wings, grilled buttermilk wings or tender chicken breast fillets are all on the menu, with plenty of sauce options to flavour them with. Burgers are also pretty impressive, and include the dry-aged beef patty with cheddar cheese, dat burger sauce, caramelised onions and gherkins in a sesame brioche bun.
If you like a bottomless brunch, try the special menu. Choose from a selection of incredible dishes, bottomless wings and seafood and bottomless sides. The star of the show are the bottomless drinks, like the Margarita Picante, Thrilla in Banilla and Flossin' Outta Control. For a little extra, you can add the special cocktail of Zombie Fire.
