A lovely market town in the Epping Forest District of Essex, Epping has become popular with those who enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside but want to be close enough to the city. Epping Forest is a large open space that is over 6,000 acres stretching from Manor Park in East London to the north of Epping in Essex. Many people choose to visit this part of Essex for its rich variety of wildlife which is spread across grasslands, through deep ponds and beautiful woodlands. Everywhere you go in Epping, you're bound to hear the tweet of a bird or the croak of a toad. One of Epping's most famous residents, Rod Stewart, the award winning singer, is said to live in a large Jacobean-style oak pile home that is complete with its own football pitch. Phil Tufnell, Lisa Snowden and Alan Davis are also Epping's residents. The forest has a great link between London and rural Essex, giving locals a real balance.
