The Prince Regent is a stunning Georgian manor hotel located in Chigwell, not far from Epping Forest and with direct connections to London, too. While its historic facade is breath-taking on first look, inside, guests and diners of the restaurants will be delighted too by its bright, modern interiors and views overlooking the grounds and gardens.
Whether you're staying at the hotel and would like to book in for breakfast, lunch or an evening meal, or you're an Essex local and planning a special meal out, The Prince Regent's Brasserie Restaurant is an elegant eatery, serving up classic dishes like burgers and fish and chips, but with a gourmet twist. The main menu spans lunch and dinner and is positively brimming with options. For starters, there's the likes of sticky pork belly bites with Asian Slaw and Korean BBQ sauce, alongside panko breaded king prawns with a chipotle mayo dip, and loaded nachos with cheese sauce, sour cream, guacamole, salsa and jalapenos. Why not order a selection for the table, while you browse the many options for mains?
If a large plate is what you're after, enjoy dishes like the lemon and tarragon sea bass fillet served with sautéed potatoes, leeks and peas, or perhaps classic fish and chips with garden peas. There's also vegetarian options like sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry, alongside more traditional plates like slow cooked salt and pepper feather blade of beef with mashed potatoes.
Of course, you can rarely go wrong with Italian specials like pizza and pasta, both of which have plenty of options, but we particularly like the sound of the indulgent burgers which are served in a brioche bun and with crispy fries. The gourmet prime beef burger, for example, is smothered with crispy bacon, mature cheddar and Baconnaise. Yum!
If you fancy something a bit lighter, try one of the hot sandwiches, served with either crispy fries or a mug of freshly prepared tomato and basil soup. Choose from the club sandwich, a crispy breaded chicken option, and a ham and cheese melt. The desserts selection includes the warm treacle and ginger tart with vanilla clotted cream ice cream and caramel sauce, and an apple and blackberry crumble with creamy custard.
