Within the town of Dorking itself visitors delight over the number of independent art and craft shops, boutiques, art galleries, vintage emporiums and antique shops. Dorking was historically known for its large poultry market – hence the large and unmissable statue of a cockerel erected on the roundabout at the town’s entrance and many references to fowl across the town.
