Denbies Wine Estate has been flying the flag for English wines since the late 1980s, when the estate was first founded, and since then it has become one of the country's largest single estate vineyards, being proudly owned and run independently with a rapidly growing vision.
It has a stunning spot in the Surrey Hills and is a simply gorgeous place to spend a weekend staying at the on-site hotel, enjoying tours and wine tastings, and of course, making the most of its gastro offering.
If spending the day here at Denbies, you'll want to book yourself a spot in the picturesque Gallery Restaurant which is open for lunch on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Located on the third floor of the winery, guests love its spanning views which overlook 265 acres of idyllic vineyards, even as far reaching as Box Hill and the North Downs, especially on a sunny day.
Chic and contemporary, the cream, timeless interiors work for any taste and set the scene for a memorable occasion. Whether it be a birthday lunch or simply enjoying a lovely day out, guests can't resist the space's relaxed elegance.
As for the food, the team spends months working on seasonal menus which change throughout the year. For example, the autumn menu offers dishes such as chicken and tarragon terrine with apricot emulsion and focaccia crisp for starters, as well as mains such as braised English pork belly with soft polenta, buttered savoy cabbage, smoked bacon and vermouth sauce, alongside vegetarian options like smoked romanesco, white bean puree and red cabbage gnocchi.
Dessert wise, we like the sound of the red wine poached pear with clotted cream, or the milk chocolate sphere with a quince core and dark chocolate soil, for an even more indulgent choice.
