Claremont Teahouse is one of Newcastle's newest tea and coffee houses, and offers customers the chance to try out a variety of unique and flavourful specialist blends. Pay the team a visit and enjoy freshly made bakes and bigger bites alongside a long drinks selection. At the coffee house, the lower ground area has a unique micro-cinema that will be opening shortly, which is available for hire with seating, and has exhibition space options.
Breakfast is served until 2pm, and begins with glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice before a selection of dishes like the honey granola with fresh yoghurt and fruit compote and local eggs and soldiers. Other breakfast options include the shakshuka which is a dish of eggs baked in a tomato, pepper and onion sauce served with sourdough, and the option to add chorizo and spinach along with French toast served with candied cured bacon, pecans and maple syrup. If you want a simple breakfast but have a hearty appetite, order the bottomless breakfast and help yourself to toast, butter and preserves.
The menu that is served for brunch, lunch and in the evenings begins with a selection of small plates and starters, including the chef's soup of the day, a plate of dirty fries with chilli beef and nacho toppings, and an Asian crispy beef salad. Other small plates include the red pepper and beetroot hummus, Mediterranean salad and mushroom and lentil Scotch egg. The sandwiches sound epic, and can be paired with a mug of soup or bowl of fries. Choose from the posh fish finger sandwich, a meatball ciabatta or the croque monsieur with plenty of cheesy, truffled flavour.
