Located on the first floor of Fenwick’s department store in Newcastle, Café 21 is a relaxed and stylish space serving everything from breakfast and lunch to early evening bites. So, whether it’s a mid-shopping snack, smart business lunch or elegant afternoon tea, this versatile spot is suited to multiple dining experiences and occasions.
The bright and airy café is decorated in calming neutral tones, from beige walls and a glossy marble topped bar to wooden flooring and furniture. Clean spotlights create a contemporary feel while the odd pot plant adds splashes of colour and vibrance to the space.
Café 21 serves food all day and the menu features a wide range of dishes for all appetites, from soups and sandwiches to more substantial meals. Lighter options include a niçoise-style salad, veggie buddha bowl and broad bean falafel with hummus. While heartier dishes range from fish fingers with tartare sauce, minted peas and chips to Thai green curry and a cheeseburger.
You’ll also find a selection of freshly-made desserts, cakes and pastries available throughout the day in case you’re in need of a sweet pick-me-up mid-morning or afternoon. Or go the whole hog with an afternoon tea booking, with the British affair served daily from 2pm.
In the morning, there’s an extensive breakfast menu available featuring a range of healthy starts and indulgent classics alongside cocktails, juices, smoothies, coffees and teas. Keep things light with organic granola and fresh fruit, or browse its bakery section for croissants, toast, scones and more. There’s also an entire section dedicated to eggs, from benedict and florentine to a cheese and spinach souffle.
Café 21 also offers fixed price menus, kids’ deals and Sunday offering centred around a roast dinner with all the trimmings.
