Café Chula

I came to this restaurant looking for a great, cheap eat - I wasn't disappointed, but portions are very very small. For what you're getting, your bill is going to add up very quickly! 

Everything I had was absolutely fantastic tasting, from the jackfruit tacos to the mezcal margarita but I left hungry. 

I've also unfortunately had to lower the rating since when I turned up at the restaurant they claimed they had no record of my booking (booked via Squaremeal...) and the atmosphere was pretty lacking while I was sat next to a massive sage-scented diffuser. I'd go back in the summer when I'm looking for a light meal/outdoor seating/a few margs in the sunshine! 

I come from California and the one thing I miss almost as much as the sunshine is Mexican food! I've finally found it though at Cafe Chula. The tacos are to die for…very fresh and yummy! The crispy fish taco is baja style so something I definitely would have seen in Cali and serves my cravings well. The tortas I wasn't so familiar with – Mexican style sandwiches served on soft French baguette with beans, guacamole, lettuce, tomato and a choice of different filling. The pickled jalepeno on the side makes this sandwich all the better! Dinner time you have a choice of bigger plates like a pork chop with creamy chipotle sauce and a steak served with grilled cebollitas (green onions) rice and beans. Of course I wash it all down with a margarita or a Dos Equis beer and my life is complete! Now all they need to do is burritos and I'll be in heaven. Much love to this little tucked away gem.
