Camden Market’s first ever pub, The Farrier, is a cosy neighbourhood restaurant and bar that offers rustic dining, artisan and natural wines and signature cocktails.
The kitchen team is headed up by Jake Perry who brings a wealth of experience from working in kitchens across the globe, from Dubai to Dorset! Although he's no stranger to cooking for celebrities, Jake focuses on a more rustic style of dining at this Camden pub, creating comforting classics made using seasonal British ingredients. Signatures include lager battered haddock and triple cooked chips, a steak and pale ale pie with red wine gravy, and a sausage and mash with smoked paprika onion rings.
Sundays see the kitchen turn out sharing roasts which are the product of a partnership between the pub and family-run butchers HG Walter. Options include 12-hour cider braised pork belly, 28 day aged medium rare rump roast and a beetroot, tofu and mushroom wellington, and all centrepieces come surrounded by classic trimmings and lashings of gravy. A trio of starters are available too, including pulled beef shin and tarragon croquettes with smoked paprika aioli, while desserts feature plenty of classics such as sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanillla ice cream.
The space can seat up to 48 in the main restaurant, 38 in the pub and a further 66 in the covered alfresco terrace and hidden courtyard. While booking is advised, there are tables reserved for walk-ins, too.
Interiors have been carefully restored in order to respect the pub’s former life as a horse hospital with many of its historic features kept intact. Expect exposed brickwork, an indoor fireplace, cast iron features and comfy soft furnishings.
Drinks plays a huge role in The Farrier’s offering, from locally-sourced cocktails to wines that focus on natural, biodynamic and organic bottles. For example, it sources the ingredients for its Negroni from suppliers within 2 miles of the pub, including those in Camden Market. While its wine list is hand-selected from small producers and wineries around the world. Think funky Pet Nats and low-intervention orange wines. Be sure to ask about the daily wine special as well!
