Pop-up mall Boxpark launched in Shoreditch back in 2011, and has since become a staple of the east London scene. Featuring food, drink and retail options, Boxpark is a bit of a one-stop shop, but one that evolves, with traders changing periodically. Now, it has opened up an offshoot in Croydon, featuring plenty more drool-worthy food options. Read on for our pick of the best.
The Breakfast Club
Rise and shine, because the peppy, perky Breakfast Club certainly won’t let you sleep. Expect a vibe that’s similar to its other sites (including Hoxton and Soho) with an all-day menu of English and American brunch favourites, alongside plenty of puns, good cocktails and lots of fun (boozy bingo and live music are regular features).
Dum Dum Donutterie
Serving up freshly baked doughnuts and croissants, this is the definition of food porn. Flavours include pistachio, strawberries and cream, toffee apple and many more, but we recommend going for the ‘zebra’ – layers of plain and chocolate croissant dough filled with chocolate buttercream and topped with chocolate ganache.
Kothu Kothu
Meaning chop chop, this Sri Lankan street-food station serves up generous portions of Kothu Roti. Traditionally cooked on a heated iron sheet, the cutting and mixing of the ingredients is done using two blunt metal blades, creating a distinct sound. In fact, the process is often done to the beat of music, meaning you get a bit of theatre with your feast.
MEATliquor
After popping up in Covent Garden, Hoxton, Brixton and even Singapore, the rough-and-ready meaty menus and killer cocktails are coming to Croydon. Prepare to get messy.
