Aimed firmly at the sweet of tooth, voluptuous Volupté now boasts a 60-seater bonbon bar for your sweet delectation – as if its cabaret and burlesque follies weren’t enough distraction in their own right. Hidden behind a velvet curtain, it allows punters to rediscover the joys of a childhood tuck shop circa The Railway Children – liquorice allsorts, pink mice, cola bottles and humbugs in old-school jars. But this ‘bonbonerie’ comes with a more adult dimension, too. Billed as a speakeasy, the hideaway sells cocktails and shots such as gummi worm, toffee tease, liquorice lady and candy cane (Koko Kanu rum, blue Curaçao, Lichi Li liqueur and gin) – although queasy types might want to avoid fruity, vodka-based Miss Marshmallow in favour of aviation or even a bloody Mary. Note that the bar is open to all.
