1910 Cantina in Parsons Green is the second of its kind in London, with the first branch originally opening in Balham in 2020. Another opening in such quick succession is testament to the success of this new Mexican revolution (and yes, that is where the name hails from). Looking to celebrate all things Mexican, you can expect everything from fiestas with mariachi bands, to the celebration of Mexican Independence Day, and not forgetting Cinco De Mayo, where the margaritas flow and the fun follows.
The food is inspired by chef and co-owner Mauricio Rico’s family recipes, including weekly specials and regular new additions to the menu, and they just so happen to be largely gluten free. Think Birria Quesadilla with traditional slow cooked beef birria, Tijuana spices, melted cheese and toppings of chilli, coriander, onion and some birria gravy. Or a conchinita Pibil with two tortillas, filled with pulled pork marinated in anchiote, and habanero salsa, pickled red onion, coriander and lime. Whilst Mexican flavours are bursting from every dish at this eatery, the ingredients are fresh from local suppliers, to champion British businesses alongside Mexican heritage.
For those after a tipple to pair with their tacos, 1910 Cantina boasts one of the largest selections of agave spirits in London, with as many as 160 included in the list.
Brought together through both owners' passions, with Jose’s expertise in Mezcal and Tequila, and Mauricio’s love for cooking, 1910 Cantina are bringing an authentic Mexican experience to Parsons Green with its latest instalment.
