The founders of Bobby’s, Mr Bhagwanjibhai and Mrs Manglaben Lakhani, came to Leicester in 1972. An Indian restaurant with considerable talent in the kitchen, along with core values of authenticity, affordability and quality, Bobby’s Valentine's Day in 1976. After all these years, Bobby's remains a very well cherished restaurant in the local community.
Choose several delicious dishes from Bobby's deli menu, including crispy filo pastry samosas with spicy diced potato, carrots and peas, and paneer spring rolls blended with sweetcorn. Other plates on this section of the menu include onion bhajis, rice flour dumplings, chilli and lemon mogo with chilli powder and savoury sponge snacks of dhokla with chickpea flour and yoghurt, sesame and mustard seeds and fresh coriander. From maharajah's feast choose Bobby's special shashlik with chunks of cassava, paneer, potato, capiscum and onions marinated in the restaurant's special sauce on a hot sizzling platter. For a rich dish try the paneer butter masala with a mildly spicy sauce, or the black lentil curry with a rich blend of spices and cream.
There's a cracking Indo-Chinese selection on the menu, too, which includes a crispy and garlicky aubergine stir fry, vegetable manchurian and firecracker cauliflower. The thali selection is a feast for all the senses, and includes a beautiful special with two traditional Gujarati curries, daal, chapatis or puris, rice, papad, pickle, raita, sambhari, mix farsan, two Indian sweets and a mango lassi – how delicious!
