Specialising in Italian seafood and fizz, this late-night 80-cover venue from the founders of wine-café chain Veeno is a two-storey operation: an upstairs restaurant plus a rather swish ground-floor bar dedicated to Franciacorta, the fine Italian sparkling wine that’s bottle-aged in the same way as Champagne. The dining room’s a good-looking spot, too, decorated in shades of white and blue with nautical touches such as rope bannisters and lighting. Here, the menu kicks off with oysters and traditional seafood antipasti such as octopus salad or scallops gratinéed with burrata, before offering a choice of fresh pasta and predominantly fish-based mains. Our refined starter of gilt-head bream came with a zingy ginger dressing, allowing the succulent fish to shine, while a main of linguine all’aragosta treated us to half a buttery lobster and al dente pasta dressed with rich lobster sauce and sweet cherry tomatoes. In addition to Franciacorta, the drinks list includes wines from the Veeno family vineyard (Caruso & Minini based in Marsala) alongside Italian craft beer from the Collesi brewery in Apecchio. A sparkling addition to Alderley Edge.
