The Plough & Flail is exactly what you'd imagine when you picture a charming, yet modern British pub. Complete with several comfortable dining areas and a beautiful beer garden, The Plough & Flail is regarded as one of the best pubs in Mobberley. The bar is well stocked with the JW Lees family of beers, including a lovely favourite of the Manchester Pale Ale. If you're not a beer drinker, fear not, there are plenty of delicious wines, spirits and whiskies to choose from, too. The menus at The Plough & Flail rotate each season, so you'll always find something delicious and new to enjoy each time that you visit.
Starters are blended in with the small plates and sharers, as each dish is perfectly suited to begin your meal, enjoy alongside your main, or make up a larger selection of picky bits. Choose from creamy burrata with warm tomato and basil compote, crab arancini with gazpacho salsa, sweet potato and beetroot tortellini and creamy stilton button mushrooms. Main dishes include the steak and JW Lees ale pie that has been slow cooked and served with thick cut chips, ale gravy, buttered garden greens or mushy peas, and a sage roasted chicken breast with chorizo, gnocchi, sun dried tomatoes, spinach and Grana Padano. The porchetta is a slow roasted pork belly with black garlic, fennel and rosemary seasoning, served alongside tenderstem broccoli, black pudding mash, apple sauce, crackling and grain mustard gravy. If you fancy something a little lighter, order the hot crispy beef on egg noodle salad with honey and soy sauce dressing, or the pairing of charred watermelon and Greek feta.
There are plenty of desserts to choose from on the menu, including the raspberry ripple Arctic slice with gin and strawberry compote, sticky toffee pudding with custard, and citrus tart with lemon curd and sorbet.
