The Black Swan Inn is in Seahouses on the North Northumberland coast. Once a thriving fishing village, Seahouses is now a popular tourist destination, thanks to its quaint harbour and boat trips to The Farne islands, which are home to puffins.
Given the pub’s location, seafood and fish features heavily, with select dishes given pride of place at the start of the menu. A hot and cold selection of the catch of the day, priced at £74 and with hand-cut chips and a sourdough baguette, is the perfect way to sample everything that’s on offer. Lindisfarne oysters are also on the menu, available either freshly shucked, coated in panko breadcrumbs or thermidor. Half or whole locally caught lobster can be preordered. Pan fried halibut and oven roasted monkfish round are the two main fish options.
Elsewhere, starters include mushroom ‘scallops’, pan seared wood pigeon and Shetland blue mussels. For mains, there’s an 8oz fillet steak, lamb rump, sous-vide pork belly, bangers and mash and a 6oz beef burger. Three more fish dishes are also on offer: moules frites, Thai seafood curry and haddock and chips. Vegans can choose from an aubergine steak or a vegan burger.
A range of desserts round out the food menu. These include apple and rhubarb crumble, whisky panna cotta and sticky toffee pudding. Those not after something sweet can order an artisan cheese board.
The Black Swan Inn serves a roast on Sundays. This is a sirloin of beef served with duck fat potatoes, garlic and thyme mash, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.
