Best restaurants in Wembley

Wembley is best known for the world-famous football stadium, and of course for Wembley Arena, which hosts famous international music acts throughout the year. Aside from that, Wembley is home to a huge, vibrant south Asian community, as well as a collection of brilliant regional south Asian restaurants that serve up dosas and vada pavs in the hundreds.

Updated on 22 May 2024

For many of us, our first (and perhaps only) taste of Wembley comes as we exit Wembley Park stadium and walk down Olympic Way (or Wembley Way as it’s commonly known) surrounded by flags and chanting fans. Though it doesn’t grab the headlines, Wembley is also notable as a food destination. There has been significant change and renovation around Wembley in recent years - not only has the stadium seen a big upgrade, but new retailers and entertainment spaces have arrived in the area too, including London’s biggest Boxpark to date. That includes a number of more contemporary restaurants in Wembley, which have moved into the new developments in and around the stadium.

This part of west London is home to one of London’s largest south Asian communities and you’ll see that represented in every corner of this busy neighbourhood. Though you can expect to see some of your more traditional curry houses, the beauty of Wembley is in its regional specialities - you’ll find that restaurants here often serve more specific regional menus from all over India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and you’ll find them buzzing with locals on most evenings.

The slow modernisation of Wembley also means that it has become more international and wide-ranging in recent years. You’ll find a much broader selection of restaurants and menu choices around the stadium, and you’ll even find some solid brunch options on a weekend. Come for the football, stay for the dosas and vada pavs!

Sakonis

Sakonis

127-129 Ealing Road, Wembley, Middlesex, HA0 4BP

One of many good Indian vegetarian restaurants in Wembley, there’s lots to appreciate among the many pages of Sakonis’ menu, but we’re big fans of the chilli paneer and the fresh, punchy chaats. They do excellent sandwiches and wraps for the lunch crowd too.

Dosa Street

Dosa Street

Unit 16, Wembley, London, HA0 4BD

In our humble opinion, Dosa Street might just be one of the best value hidden gems in the whole of London - the menu is packed with a seemingly endless list of dosas in various sweet and savoury guises. You can’t go wrong with a masala dosa, and the hoppers are good too.
