What a gem
We decided to try this place for Friday eve meal, went on Squaremeal about 6pm and got a table for 4 at 815pm. The building itself is impressive in an olde country mansion kind of way with stained glass and wood panelling. The stain glass windows at the front are amazing with animals and birds depicted. The wood panels are such that they can hide doors quite easily which my son found most amusing and called them smugglers doors. A trip to the conveniences was more revealing! With doors labelled 'bottomless pit', 'rare venomous spiders', 'collection of biblical plagues' & 'please don't release the kraken' amongst others, my son tells me they were all locked! A lovely bar just to the left of the entrance with a good selection of drinks and about three different restaurant rooms with about 8 tables in each giving the place a charming atmosphere. You can wander out to more seating outdoors at the back and a short walk to the beach and views of the Solent, Isle of Wight and needles. The food is great and reasonably priced, £70 for 4 with 2 starters and soft drinks. I had the chicken and bacon cob salad and I have to say it was the best I've ever had! Well worth a try, were contemplating Sunday Roast there and maybe even a breakfast.

Sorry, you cannot spend SquareMeal vouchers here yet.
