Originally a private home called Grattens Cottage, The Fisherman's Rest was granted a liquor licence in 1870, at which point it came to the attention of local smugglers, becoming a favourite haunt. We're proud to be a community driven pub and in 1997 a group of 25 locals planned, funded and acted in their own charity pantomime production of Cinderella. It was played out in the restaurant and enjoyed by a full pub. It can't have been that bad either, because many of the cast are still regular drinkers in The Fisherman's Rest!
