Latin American-inspired cocktail bar, Viajante87, has a prime location just a stone’s throw from Notting Hill Gate tube station with an ambiguous entrance leading down to an atmospheric, subterranean space. Hidden below the surface, you’ll find a sultry enclave furnished with velvet teal banquettes, black marble tables and coffee-hued walls, mixing pattern and texture for a sophisticated mood. Private dining at Viajante87 can be organised by contacting the venue directly with its cosy size and open plan space make it the perfect snug for a birthday party or brand event.
Viajante translates to traveller and its owners, already known for Notting Hill haunt Los Mochis, invite guests to embark on an adventure across the cultures which have inspired the menu. The menu at Viajante87 is inspired by the team’s travels through Latin America and aims to pay homage to the range of diverse cultures of the region with drinks designed to honour traditions and local ingredients whilst taking on a playful yet sophisticated West London lens.
The menu is split into sections which represent the journey a traveller takes from tourist to local when exploring and immersing themselves into new cultures. The sections, titled Be Comfortable, Be Curious, Be Courageous, Be Present and Be Involved, are designed to take guests on a journey, whether looking for comfortable classics or more innovative and experimental serves such as the ‘Tierra Roja’ a tequila based drink mixed with red beet, campari, lapsang, wine tannins and whey.
Moving onto the bar snacks and don’t worry, there’s no grubby bowls of peanuts to be seen here. Instead, an experimental flair sees sushi and tacos come together under the ‘taco-maki’ section offering a twist on classics like California Rolls, instead wrapping the ingredients into a taco shape with nori or soy paper, along with other moreish crispy rice with either truffle guacamole, or spicy salmon, or duck teriyaki.
