If you have a penchant for history, tradition and a sense of grandeur, The Naval and Military Club, also known as the In & Out, might be just the place for you. A private member's club for Officers of the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the Army and the Royal Air Force, you wouldn't usually get to see the inside of these glamorous walls - but when it comes to private hire of the clubhouse's incredible spaces, non members are welcomed to throw their shindig here.
The clubhouse is situated in central London at No. 4 St James's Square, just a stone's throw from the likes of The National Gallery, Regents Street and Green Park. It takes its home in a towering, 17th-century townhouse, complete with white columns and all the period details. A stunning backdrop for your event, and one your guests will be impressed by no doubt.
Once inside, there are plenty of spaces to choose from - seven to be exact. For a seated dinner, perhaps for a wedding reception, birthday party or company event, The Coffee Room is the largest space with capacity for 100 people on round tables. Walls are hued ruby red, glittering chandeliers dangle from the ceiling and huge, historic oil paintings hang on the walls. It certainly makes an impression.
For an important meeting or team away day, the V.A.D. Room is set up with a central table for 16 people. Ornate cornicing and a painting ceiling make this room a beautiful place to be, but also quiet, private and ideal for getting some important work done.
Cocktail receptions work wonderfully in The Canning Room, a large, open space with high ceilings and features like a grand fireplace. Up to 40 people can be entertained while standing here, enjoying a mix of drinks and canapes.
