Housed in St James, Mayfair, this elegant brasserie is the perfect upmarket location for a private meal. The combination of delicious food, beautiful setting and can-do service has helped earn the restaurant our prestigious Gold Award. A meeting of minds between Francois O’Neill and Matthey Ryle, this Art Deco space provides its clientele with decadent traditional French dishes, updated with modern twists.
For private dining, there is a choice of two settings on offer: Frank’s and The Wine Room. Frank’s is a relaxed, informal 'reception' space that will transport you to the heart of Paris. High ceilings and concrete floors give this room an industrial feel, while black leather seating will make you feel right at home. You and your guests can observe as food is prepared behind the bar, and each dish can be paired with a glass from their truly unique wine selection.
The Wine Room, on the other hand, is a more intimate setting, well-suited to not just private dining, but meetings and other types of events.
Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner here surrounded by Maison Francois’ distinguished selection of fine wines. The room also has a curtain to give you the choice of further privacy, or a more open, bustling feel. Many groups enjoy using Frank's for both pre and post-meal receptions which is a useful addition, not always on offer with private rooms. The fact that Frank's is less busy at lunchtimes is a bonus for savvy bookers who want to utilise this facility.
Matthew Ryle’s private dining menus honour traditional French cuisine using seasonal produce and are presented resplendently. Highlights include pate en croute, moules mariniere and freshly-baked gougeres packed with sumptuous compte. But the cream of the crop has to be the desserts. The selection seems to distil an entire Parisian patisserie into a chest of drawers brimming with macarons, eclairs and more.
The extensive 250-strong wine list’s main focus is France, naturally. However, it also offers options from further afield, welcoming well-established estates and newcomers alike. For those who sip with a conscience, the list leans towards vineyards that practice biodynamic methods. Maison Francois’ sommeliers are always happy to guide you to the perfect choice for your event.
